TOKYO, 27 Safar 1434/8 January 2013 (KUNA/MINA) Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida will make a six-day visit to the Philippines, Singapore, Brunei and Australia from Wednesday, the Foreign Ministry announced Tuesday.
Kishida is scheduled to meet Philippine President Benigno Aquino III and Foreign Secretary Albert Del Rosario on Thursday in Manila before flying to Singapore, where he will hold talks with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Foreign Affairs and Law Minister K Shanmugam.
Kishida will then meet Brunei’s Foreign Minister Prince Mohamed Bolkiah on Saturday in Bandar Seri Begawan and Australian Foreign Minister Bob Carr in Sydney on Sunday.
The upcoming four-nation tour will be Kishida’s first official visit abroad since assuming the post on December 26.
“This visit offers an opportunity for close communication with each country at foreign ministerial level, which will strengthen the bilateral relations in a wide range of areas,” the ministry said. (T/R-012/R-006)
