Kabul, 27 Jumadil Akhir 1434/6 May 2013 (MINA) – Five American soldiers and two NATO soldiers were killed, Saturday (4/5), in two separate regions of Afghanistan.
Five US soldiers were killed following a roadside bomb explosion in Maiwand district of southern Kandahar province.
Later, the coalition reported that an International Security Assistance Force service member died following an insurgent attack in northern Afghanistan, Sunday.
And in western Afghanistan, at least two NATO soldiers were killed following an insider attack, Saturday, the Khaama Press quoted by Miraj News Agency (MINA) as reporting.
NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) following a statement announced, “Two International Security Assistance Force service members were killed when an Afghan National Army soldier turned his weapon against ISAF service members in western Afghanistan today. The incident is currently under investigation.”
The statement did not disclose further information regarding the exact location of the incident and nationalities of the deceased soldiers.
On the contrary, in the same day, an Afghan teenage girl has been shot and killed by US-led foreign forces in Afghanistan’s western province of Herat, Press TV reported.
The incident happened on Saturday (4/5) when foreign forces opened fire on civilians, killing the girl and injuring three others, local officials said, according to Press TV
On Saturday (27/4), the renewed violence came as Taliban group announced to launch its summer offensive against the coalition and Afghan security forces.
Taliban named this year’s summer offensive “Khalid bin Walid” operation and vowed to carry out insider attacks in military bases and target other diplomatic institutions across the country. (T/P09/E1).
