Pekanbaru, 24 Shawwal 1436/9 August 2015 (MINA) – The government of Kampar regency of Riau Province is targeting to produce 2.5 million liters of biourine per month, derived from cow urine as a substitute for chemical fertilizers which are considered to threat the fertility of the soil.
“Biourine Kampar production is a high quality fertilizer and it will re-fertilize the soil that had been undermined by the use of chemical fertilizers,” said Kampar Regent Jefry Noer to the press, Sunday.
Jeffery explained, the production of biourine is applied via Independent Energy and Food of Household Program (RTMPE). In this program, each household was asked to independently maintain six cows on an area of one thousand square meters.
Later, he added, each household will be able to independently produce as many as 500 to 1,000 liters biourine derived from the cows’ urine.
For this year, said Jefry, the regent targeted as many as 1,500 to 2,500 people, including entire staffs, also the heads of district and village to implement the RTMPE program.
Later, he added, each household will be able to independently produce as many as 500 to 1,000 liters biourine derived from the cows urine.
If the program runs well, he said, Kampar regency will be able to produce around 2,5 million liters of biourine each month and will be marketed to a number of local and outside farmers.
Biourine of Kampar production has previously been proven to be beneficial for horticultural plants and even palm. The result is more satisfying and soil fertility is maintained.
He added, vegetable or horticultural crops which use biourine have reaped better results than using chemical fertilizers. As for oil palm plantations, it has proven to foster plan fertility. (T/R03/NMT)
