Jakarta, MINA – One of vocal movements in Palestine, Harakah Islamiyah, said metal detectors and surveillance cameras are just a shift away from the public’s attention to the real Israeli action in the holy site. According to the movement, Israel is trying to knock down the mosque by sprinkling chemicals into the walls and poles of the mosque.

In an interview with the Shehab News Agency recently, Deputy Chief of Harakah Islamiyah Shaykh Kamal Al-Khatib said Israel had poured chemicals into the walls and pillars of the Aqsa Mosque as well as in Musola Marwan as an attempt to render the mosque collapsed.

“These chemicals react with steam to crack or break up soil and rocks,” he said.

He also believed, the installation of metal detectors and CCTV is just a part of Israeli divertion so that Palestinian people and media’s attention distracted.

“I strongly believe that there are covert plans and far more dangerous than surveillance cameras around Al-Aqsa Mosque,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Palestinian Information Center correspondent in Al-Quds reported the Israeli occupation forces were conducting some excavations around the Asbat Gate, one of the main gates of the Aqsa Mosque. The purpose of the digging is not yet confirmed.

Eyewitnesses said Israeli troops on Wednesday evening brought in Jewish workers and small concrete mixers to the Al-Ghazali in the Asbat Gate area, the site of demolition of rocks and excavations that had been done several days earlier.

Previously, they closed the area with a plastic barrier with unknown purpose.(L/RE1/P2)
