Bandung, MINA – The Chairman of the Halal Tourism Development Acceleration Team from the Ministry of Tourism Riyanto Sofyan said Indonesia has set a target will be ranked first in Halal Tourism in the world. in 2019.
“Today the target of halal tourism for Muslim tourists is 3.1 million, and that number will increase to 5 million by 2019,” Riyanto said at the National Seminar of ITB Post-Graduate Students in Bandung, Tuesday (31/10).
Ryanto mentioned that there are at least four pillars of halall lifestyle industry development for achieving the target, namely policy and regulation, marketing and promotion, destination and industrial development, and capacity building.
Ryanto who also became the first pioneer of sharia hotels in Indonesia said the target achievement was not without basis.
“We have the largest archipelagic country, with more than 17,000 islands, 300 tribes, 746 languages and dialects,” he said.
Ryanto who presented a paper under the theme “The Role of Government in the Development of Halal Industry in Indonesia” said that infrastructure support is also a major factor to achieve the target.
“We have 15 new airports, 27 runways, and 12 terminals in the development process,” he explained.
According to him the role of government is very important in providing regulation of halal tourism. For example the current hotel regulation is different from the previous concept of a bar that provides alcoholic beverages.
“Halal destinations are not a threat to tourism business because otherwise it will be judged negatively by the world community. This is the concept of commitment to provide the best for consumers in the best service, “he added. (L/R04/RS5)
