Gaza, MINA – Hamas movement on Sunday said that Likud party’s decision to annex the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem to Israel constitutes an aggression on the Palestinians and will lead to more resistance.
Hamas’s spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said in a statement that this decision confirms that his Movement was right in its opposition to the Oslo Accords and settlement agreements which have paved the way for Israel to implement its racist policies, PIC reported.
Barhoum added that such Israeli moves make Hamas more adherent to the option of resistance to defend the rights of the Palestinian people.
Israel’s ruling party, Likud, on Sunday passed by a majority vote a draft resolution to impose Israeli sovereignty to illegal settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem and annex them to Israel.
The vote was conducted during the general conference of the 3700-member Likud Central Committee. Hebrew media sources reported that the resolution is expected to be passed to the Knesset for its approval.
The conference was held under the title “They write bout cigars, we write about history” in reference to the corruption investigations against Likud’s chairman who also serves as Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. (T/R04/RS5)
